How to Encourage a Tenacious Attitude
In today’s daily struggle, it’s easy for kids to get discouraged with their schoolwork, sports, or because of a problem with friends. They will encounter new situations that will test them every day and it can be to much if we don’t show them the way to build a strong mindset. The best way to start is to encourage perseverance. When they run into roadblocks, continue to encourage them and tell them that anything worth doing takes practice to succeed. They will run into plateaus and that’s okay. Embrace the distress, push through it and they will be stronger for it. When they ask how to do things try to resist the urge to just tell them the answer. Instead, guide them with questions. With this tactic, when they figure out the correct answer, they will learn how to use critical thinking to solve problems. If the case arises that you must give the answer, explain the answer so they gain the information for their next similar encounter. Finally, don’t be afraid to share your failures. Your kids can learn so much from your experience in life. In conclusion, teach your kids that determination and a tenacious attitude are the way for them to overcome any obstacle and be truly successful in life.
