Jr. Coach Spotlight!
I want to take a second and give praise to our Jr. Coaches here at Supremacy Jiu Jitsu. They have been an excellent addition and a big help to the adult coaches that run the kids’ classes. They fill the role of a near-peer mentor, someone close to the age of the students that can still be looked up to and are available for questions about the technique being taught that week. One reason that their presence is beneficial on the mat is the relatability they have with the younger students. Students are more likely to follow the actions of someone closer to their age than they are just being told what to do by adults. It goes both ways, as well. Our Jr. Coaches gain important skills from helping during class. They learn to take on more responsibility, learn better communication skills, and gain leadership skills. Jr. Coaches are the most valuable because they bridge the gap between the kids and Coaches; allowing better communication and learning from coach to student. If you want to see your child grow in the art and potentially become a Jr. Coach themselves, come in and have them try a class today!
