Motivation can be Hard to Come By
Kids love to play and have fun, but when it’s time to put in work in something they are doing they have trouble finding the motivation. I want to help parents inspire and motivate their kids with a couple stimulating strategies that will get them up and moving. First, keep an eye on what your child is doing before class. If they are playing with a friend or video games, it will probably be challenging to get them away from that activity. If you can, set chore time up before class so they look forward to having fun after the chores are done. Second, try to be positive when taking your kids to class. Even if you are stressed or had a tough day, stay strong because they will pick up on the negative emotions and emanate them. Third, when going over their performance after class, try to focus on what they did over what they did wrong. Not to say you can’t critique the mistakes they made, just don’t dwell on them. Finally, a great form of positive motivation is rewards. Let your child know your expectation for their behavior in class before-hand and if they succeed in your expectations, reward them. If you have trouble motivating your child in anything, have them try out Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here at Supremacy Jiu Jitsu. It’s changed many kids for the better in school, around the house, and with friends.
