Remembering isn’t Impossible
With all the different techniques and variations from all positions in Brazilian, it’s difficult for first year students to remember everything and grasp the details. I have a few supportive tips that you can use to help you remember techniques and maintain the retention. First, use resources like DVD’s or YouTube. These can be invaluable assets in your journey. Learn the move of the week and when you go home look it up and save it. This way you’ll always have it to look back on. Second, is to take notes during and after class. Taking notes makes it easier for you to learn and retain the little details of techniques. It also helps you think differently about positions. Meaning, you start to take a more analytical look at what’s going on when being shown the position. Third, drill till your heart’s content. The best way to remember something is to do it over and over. That’s were drilling something you want to learn will help build the muscle memory to do it without thinking. I hope these tips help you remember all the fun techniques you want to do on your journey.
